(How to update?)
12 December 2013
Hi, I've been receiving emails regarding M1 fibre. I've attempted a fix but I'm not confident that it works 100% because when I'm on M1 fibre, the extension seems to work as per normal anyways. If you are using M1 Fibre and it also works for you, could you drop me an email to let me know? If it doesn't work, also drop me an email to let me know how it's not working for you? Cheers! Note: It seems that it is more of a DNS issue. If it does not work for you, try switching your DNS servers to something else.
4 December 2013Singtel, Singnet, M1 issues are now fixed
About a week ago, the Singapore ISPs made a coordinated sweep in changing how webpages are blocked, rendering GOM's detection to not work properly. But I have uploaded an update that should now work again for all ISPs. It is my personal promise to you to always keep this updated. How can you help me the next time this happens?
It takes a lot of email for me to notice a pattern that something is wrong with 1 particular ISP. So the next time something like this happens to you, it will be lovely if you can email me with the following info:
GOM currently auto-detects quite a few URLS that are blocked. I can't link them here (in order to keep this legal), but think of an obvious pornsite that is blocked. If it is popular, it is automatically bypassed without waiting for the ISP's error page.
All you have to do is to go to that URL, and you'll see the GOM activate popup, and once it is activated, you can go to any other site you want :) Cheers!
TIP: When it is activated, there is the GOM icon on the right of the address bar, once you are done with the GOM mode, simply click on it to return back to your normal ISP internet. (Which is definitely faster than the bypassed mode). This year for Christmas, will you share your friends that GOM bypasses more than just porn?
MDA is contemplating banning more than just porn, but online gambling, torrent sites, etc. And it is my promise that GOM will always be there to bypass those!
So this year for X'mas, won't you share the joys of GOM with your friends?
12 November 2013Starhub users, your issue is now fixed.
Starhub users who have been emailing me about your issues, your issues are now fixed in version 1.7.6. I have just uploaded it to the Chrome store, it might take a few moments for it to be updated. Click here for more info on how to update manually.
More info: I have been receiving a few emails since last week (I think since MDA banned ashleymadison.com , and bypassed with GOM), that their GOM stopped working. At first it was just a few, then it grew in numbers, and then I realised they were all from Starhub users! Long story short, I ended up buying myself a sim card from Starhub to test. So it's fixed now.More than just porn..
Recently, quite a hoo-ha has been made with the government considering banning well, ThePirateBay, or any other stuff. I want you guys to know that the day they put a ban on those sites, GOM will bypass it immediately too :)
9 October 2013Unblock Pandora, Netflix, Hulu, and more for free music, TV shows and movies.
Hello! It has been some time since I made an update, but today, I am really excited to share with you a new chrome extension that I am building.
Introducing 6900000, a chrome extension that bypasses various international sites which blocks Singaporean users.
It is 100% free and built to work perfectly with GOM.
It gives you access to the following:
And so much more. Do check out the full list at 6900000.com.Install 6900000 now
Singapore Spirit (Paying users) have IMMEDIATE access to the extension. Head over to http://6900000.com/instructions to install now.
Free users can add themselves to the invite-list, which I will send invite codes as soon as I am confident that the servers can take the load.
The extension will eventually be open to all, but for now while I stabilize the product and the servers, I have to slowly let people in. I hope you understand!MyRepublic issues
Remember we had a MyRepublic fiasco a while ago? It is resolved now and I have implemented workarounds to get around MyRepublic blocks. So now, GOM chrome extension works for ALL major Singapore internet service providers. Singnet, M1 broadband, Starhub, MyRepublic, and even ViewQwest.22000+ users
We are now a community of over 22000 ACTIVE users! I really want to thank you guys for your continual support, especially to the paying users who swear by supporting the extension as long as it exists. While the paying users really made this possible by helping to pay for the server bills, it is the entire community of Singaporeans supporting a fellow Singaporean programmer that really touches me.
This is why I will never stop building things for you, and as much as I can, I will make it free. What to look forward to?
Well, for one, the server internet routing! GOM is right now hosted on a network that does not have the BEST routing to Singapore. But to have the best, it actually will cost 5x more expensive. But given that you guys are sharing GOM with your friends all the time, I hope I can have enough users to pay for a better server and better connectivity to Singapore.
As for the rest, I always have ideas. I just have to find some time..
16 July 2013MyRepublic issues
I have been receiving some emails that users on MyRepublic have the extension stop working for them. I'm not on MyRepublic but I have a great user send me a screenshot of the MDA error page. By which I tried updating the extension to autodetect it. Users on MyRepublic, why don't you test and let me know how it goes?
9 Mar 2013Numerous bug fixes
In this update, I have fixed lots of bugs. From serious stability bugs, to simple changes such as not having the changelog show when you first install it. Your experience should be even-more seamless now.Free accounts have expired
If you are still logged in to edmw/rox or gimme/freedom accounts, you will now receive a notification that your account has expired in the latest update. Please register and login with your own account.Singapore Spirit accounts will no longer receive a popup to upgrade their account
If you have already paid $2 to upgrade, why should you still receive reminders to upgrade? Gone be reminders for you awesome person! From super-fast speeds, to UNLIMITED fast speeds!
I did not advertise this, but I want to really thank the supporters. So I have since lifted the already-high bandwidth limits for upgraded accounts to no limits whatsoever! You now have a full gigabit line at your disposal. Of course, understand that it is still limited by the website speed. If the website is slow, no matter how fast our service is, it will still seem slow.Upgrading actually works now, automatically
If you had tried upgrading your account in the first 2 days, you might have faced with errors. This issue should be resolved now. Your account will also be automatically be upgraded when you make complete the process, and it also will be automatically downgraded when you cancel.$2 upgrades will be limited, and will soon cost more than $2
As much as I want to keep the price low forever, $2 is the lowest priced upgrade and I don't think I will ever go below $2. (I am not even breaking even on server costs). As the server becomes more congested, bandwidth becomes more precious and I expect the price to instead go up. I don't plan for this to become a huge service and constantly buying new servers to sustain growth. I want this to just be a small tight-knit group of users who supported me right from the start.Major stability issues should be resolved
Last week was pretty rough because I pushed out a huge update that proved hard to debug without actually putting it out live with thousands of people hitting the service at one go. (Concurrency bugs) I have since fixed most that I am aware of and the service seems to be running dandily smooth now.
5 Mar 2013Putting out fires
Wow, sorry for the downtime (from approx 2am - 4am). I remember testing it vigorously but seems like some bugs escaped me anyways. Please, report any bugs or any downtime by emailing it to me at email@example.com . I have just deployed quite huge changes which might give some trouble, do bear with it while it lasts. We are not going anywhere as long as you guys help out with a paid account :)

Your personal account, your personal bandwidth Starting from today, I have enabled account registration in the main page and it too comes with its perks. Your personal account means you now have your own dedicated amount of bandwidth. Of course, if you have not paid for an upgraded "Singapore Spirit" account that costs just $2, your guest account will have a low bandwidth limit, which is noticeable, but not unbearable. The Singapore Spirit account is super-fast, helps keeps the GOM service alive, and is your personal appreciation to me. It only costs $2 a month.
The server is hosted in a US server on a gigabit line, and I will add more to it and never allow it to be slow. Unless you are using a free account, then you will experience a slower bandwidth. I encourage you to pay $2 and upgrade to experience really fast speeds.
I found and fixed an interesting bug: the extension should work properly even if you close Chrome without deactivating it, or put your computer in the sleep mode while the GOM mode is active.
There are lots of other small bugs that I have fixed in this version.
24 Feb 2013
Now you can instantly disable GOM mode when you are done and resume normal surfing
Click to disable GOM mode and go back to normal surfing mode
When GOM activates, it tunnels your traffic through a secure proxy, but that also means you are not connecting directly to websites which could sometimes be slower. Now, I have added a small button at the right side of your address bar when the GOM mode is active, for which a click will bring you back to normal surfing.

Now, you can have the filtered pages loaded immediately
Yes, this means no need to clear cache, or wait for the stupid MDA error page to load up.
That is to say, the extension now learns which sites are filtered away, and build a list of it. So it might be still slow if you are the first person you trying to access it. But after that, every user using the extension thereafter will load the page immediately without the need for waiting for the silly error page.
